Serve The Community

The Village is committed to being a present, involved member of the community. Below you’ll find ways you can partner with these efforts!

Discipleship Ministries

These missional partners focus on long-term, relational ministry that changes the lives of those being mentored and those mentoring as they grow together in their faith.

HARVEST HANDS COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT

Harvest Hands is a long-term partner of The Village Church that is a catalyst for Christ-centered, holistic community development in South Nashville. We encourage you to consider volunteering to support Harvest Hands’ after school programs, sports leagues, or job training programs which have a huge impact in the lives of young people in our community.

MEN OF VALOR

Men of Valor reaches men in local prisons with the gospel of Jesus. They encourage, disciple, and equip men after they leave prison, preparing them to live lives of integrity and community. 70% of men who are released from prison find themselves back in prison within 3 years, but Men of Valor is changing that statistic in Tennessee. They have a host of volunteer opportunities available, from helping with worship to providing transportation to leading a small group Bible study.

Wrap Around Ministries

These ministries wrap around individuals and families who are in a season where they need extra support.

CROWDED TABLE

Crowded Table equips churches to provide practical support to Davidson County foster families and their caseworkers. They believe with wrap around support by local churches, foster families and caseworkers would no longer experience 50% burnout after one year of service.

A “Table” is a group of 10-15 individuals who commit to consistent prayer for their foster family and caseworker. The Table members also take turns providing practical support to the foster family, such as:

● Meals and Groceries
● Laundry and Lawn Care
● Babysitting services
● Caseworker encouragement

ART HELPS CANCER

The Village partners with Art Helps Cancer to support and encourage individuals fighting cancer.
This ministry sends approximately 50 cards of encouragement to cancer patients each month, and they can always use help decorating and writing these cards. Click the button to help!

If you have a friend, family member, or neighbor who is fighting cancer, please click the button below to request assistance on their behalf. Art Helps Cancer provides care packages, house cleaning, lawn care, and other support to families dealing with cancer treatments.

NASHVILLE NEIGHBORS (with Siloam Health)

Siloam Health is a long-term partner of The Village Church that shares the love of Christ by serving those in need through health care. Siloam’s Nashville Neighbors ministry exists to promote wellness among newly arrived refugees and build genuine relationships between refugee families and established Nashvillians. The Neighbors program provides all the training and resources you need to support a newly arrived family in our community. We encourage you to consider serving in this ministry with your Village Group!

Feed South Nashville

The Village Church is committed to helping our neighbors facing food insecurity.

Village volunteers work with the staff at Shayne Elementary to pack and distribute food bags to students facing food insecurity. This typically takes place on Thursday mornings. Sign up to volunteer using the button below. You can reach out to Amanda with any questions.

BACKPACK FEEDING PROGRAMS

Village volunteers work with the Family Resource Center at Tusculum Elementary to support students with food insecurity. Food bags are typically packed once a month at a volunteer’s home or The Village Church. There is flexibility on the time for packing, and this can be a family service project.

FEED SOUTH NASHVILLE FOOD RESCUE

Every Saturday morning Village volunteers gather food donations from local businesses and distribute them to food banks, schools, and ministries that help our neighbors experiencing food insecurity.

On the first and third Saturday of the month, Village volunteers also distribute the food directly to individuals in need at the mobile food pantry at Tusculum Elementary.

Click the button below to view our sign-up, and we’ll send you a guide with all the directions you need to serve!

We are a church for the community, and we love serving in partnership with local schools, local non-profits, and others who are working to make life better for our neighbors in Nolensville, Cane Ridge, Smyrna, South Nashville, and Lenox Village.
